CHAPTER 239

HOUSE BILL 524

 

AN ACT TO PERMIT CHILDREN UNDER SIXTEEN YEARS OF AGE TO BE EMPLOYED BY THEIR PARENTS ON THE PREMISES OF A BUSINESS HOLDING AN ABC PERMIT.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 95-25.5(i) reads as rewritten:

"(i)       Youths under 18 years of age employed by their parents are exempt from all provisions of this section, except for all of the following:

(1)       the The certificate requirements of subsection (a), (a) of this section.

(2)       the The prohibition from hazardous or detrimental occupations of subsection (b), (b) of this section.

(3)       and the The prohibitions of subsection (j). (j)(2) of this section if the youths only work at the establishment when another employee at least 21 years of age is in charge of and present at the licensed premises."

Sec. 2.  This act is effective upon ratification.

Sec. 3.  This act shall not affect any pending litigation.
