AN ACT TO MAKE THE VANCE-GRANVILLE TECHNICAL INSTITUTE A COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  The Vance-Granville Technical Institute, an institutional member of the North Carolina Community College System, is hereby created a comprehensive community college to be known as Vance-Granville Community College, which institution shall continue to be subject to the provisions of Chapter 115A of the General Statutes of North Carolina. The State Board of Education and the Board of Trustees of Vance-Granville Community College shall provide for students enrolling in Vance-Granville Community College such programs of instruction in occupational and academic education and training as are authorized or required by provisions of Chapter 115A for a community college as therein defined.

Sec. 2.  There is hereby appropriated to the State Board of Education, Department of Community Colleges, from the General Fund of the State, in addition to all other appropriations which may be made by the 1975 General Assembly therefrom, the sum of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) for the 1976-1977 fiscal year, which appropriations shall be placed in the Operations Budget of the Department of Community Colleges for distribution, together with any other funds which may be made available, to Vance-Granville Community College in accordance with provisions of the funding formulas designed and maintained by the State Board of Education pursuant to G.S. 115A-5.

Sec. 3.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4.  This act shall become effective upon its ratification.
