HOUSE BILL 139
AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE AN ELECTION ON THE CITY MANAGER FORM OF GOVERNMENT.
The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:
Section 1. At the next regular election in the Town of Forest City, there shall be presented to the qualified voters a separate ballot containing the following questions:
"[ ] FOR City Manager Form of Government
[ ] AGAINST City Manager Form of Government"
Sec. 2. The election shall be conducted under the same laws governing regular municipal elections in the Town of Forest City, except the Board of Commissioners shall publish notice of this election and the questions to be presented in some newspaper having general circulation in the town, said notice to be published at least 15 days before the election.
Sec. 3. If a majority of the votes cast shall be "FOR City Manager Form of Government" then Sec. 2 of Chapter 236 Session Laws of 1969 shall continue in effect. If a majority of the votes be "AGAINST City Manager Form of Government" then Sec. 2 of Chapter 236 Session Laws of 1969 shall be repealed upon the certification of the vote.
Sec. 4. This act shall become effective upon ratification.
