SENATE BILL 68

 

 

AN ACT TO AMEND THE MOTOR VEHICLE LAWS TO PROVIDE THAT CONVICTIONS OLDER THAN 10 YEARS SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN DETERMINING WHETHER OR NOT TO SUSPEND OR REVOKE DRIVING PRIVILEGES.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Article 2 of Chapter 20 of the General Statutes is amended by inserting after G.S. 20-35 a new section to be designated G.S. 20-36 to read as follows:

"§ 20-36.  Ten year old convictions not considered. — No conviction of any violation of the motor vehicle laws shall be considered by the Department in determining whether any person's driving privilege shall be suspended or revoked or in determining the appropriate period of suspension or revocation after 10 years has elapsed from the date of such conviction."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective upon ratification.
