AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 14-132.1 SO AS TO INCREASE THE MAXIMUM PUNISHMENT FOR DEMONSTRATIONS OR ASSEMBLIES OF PERSONS KNEELING OR LYING DOWN IN PUBLIC BUILDINGS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 14-132.1, as the same appears in the 1967 Cumulative Supplement to 1953 recompiled Volume 1B of the General Statutes is hereby amended by striking out the last two lines and inserting in lieu thereof the words, "shall be punished by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisonment of not more than six months, or both, in the discretion of the court."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
