AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 39.2 OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE GENERAL STATUTES OF NORTH CAROLINA RELATING TO THE AUTHORITY OF LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Amend Section 39.2 of Chapter 18 of the General Statutes of North Carolina by numbering the existing first paragraph "(a)" and by adding a new paragraph to be numbered "(b)" and to read as follows:

"(b)      Within their respective jurisdictions, all sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, municipal police and local Alcoholic Beverage Control officers shall have authority to investigate the operation of premises licensed under the provisions of G.S. 18-51(3), (4) and (5), and to procure evidence with respect to violations of this Article, or any rule or regulation promulgated pursuant thereto. These law enforcement officers shall have the right to enter the licensed premises in the performance of their duties at any hour of the day or night."

Sec. 2.  This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
