AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR ALIMONY AND SUPPORT PAYMENTS TO BE PAID TO AND DISBURSED BY COUNTY DIRECTORS OF PUBLIC WELFARE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. G. S. 49-8, as it appears in 1966 Replacement Volume 2A of the General Statutes, is hereby amended by adding a new subsection therein, immediately following subsection (5), to be designated subsection (6) and to read as follows:

"(6)      Order the defendant to make any payments required under this Chapter to a county director of public welfare and order the director to disburse the funds in accordance with the orders of the court."

Sec. 2. Chapter 50 of the General Statutes, as it appears in 1966 Replacement Volume 2A of the General Statutes, is hereby amended by adding a new Section therein, to be designated 50-19 and to read as follows:

"§ 50-19. Order for Payments to Director of Public Welfare. The court may, in its discretion, order that any alimony or support payments, required by the court in accordance with this Chapter, be made to a county director of public welfare and may order the director to disburse the funds in accordance with the orders of the court."

Sec. 3. Article 40 of Chapter 14 of the General Statutes, as it appears in the 1965 Cumulative Supplement to Volume 1B of the General Statutes, is hereby amended by adding a new subsection therein, immediately following G. S. 14-326.1, to be designated G. S. 14-326.2 and to read as follows:

"§ 14-326.2. Order for Payments to Director of Public Welfare. The court may, in its discretion, order that any support payments, required by the court in accordance with this Article, be paid to a county director of public welfare and may order the director to disburse the funds in accordance with the orders of the court."

Sec. 4. This Act shall apply to Person County only.

Sec. 5. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 6. This Act shall be effective on and after July 1, 1967.
