AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 87 OF THE SESSION LAWS OF 1961 RELATING TO THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF CHAPEL HILL.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Chapter 87 of the Session Laws of 1961, entitled, "An Act to Revise and Reorganize the Charter of the Town of Chapel Hill", is hereby amended by adding to Section 5.82, entitled "Extraterritorial Boundaries", in Chapter V, Article 1, Subchapter E, a new unnumbered paragraph to read as follows:

"At such time as may be agreed by the Board of Commissioners of the County of Orange and the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Chapel Hill, the boundaries of the territory within which the Board of Aldermen may exercise the aforesaid powers, shall be extended and include the territory described as follows: BEGINNING at the southeastern corner of Orange County where its line with Durham County intersects its line with Chatham County, thence westerly along the boundary line between Orange County and Chatham County, about four miles to a point at which U. S. Highway 15 and 501 intersect this line; thence in a generally northeasterly direction along a straight line to the point where Morgan Creek intersects the boundary between Orange County and Durham County, thence southwardly along the boundary line between Orange County and Durham County to the point of BEGINNING.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
