SENATE BILL 16

AN ACT TO AMEND G. S. 153-6 RELATING TO FILLING VACANCIES ON THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS IN CHEROKEE COUNTY.

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

Section 1. G. S. 153-6 is hereby amended by striking the period at the end of the Section, substituting therefor a semicolon, and adding the following words:

"And provided further that in Cherokee County the County Executive Committee of the political party to which the commissioner causing the vacancy belonged shall appoint a person from that political party to fill the vacancy for the unexpired term."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
