AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 153-8 RELATIVE TO MEETINGS OF BOARDS OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 153-8 is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following paragraph:

"In lieu of meeting at the courthouse, boards of county commissioners may, by resolution duly adopted, designate any other public place within the county as the site of its regular meetings. Such resolution shall be published at least once following its adoption in a newspaper having general circulation in the county and qualified to publish legal advertisements, or if no such newspaper is available then in a newspaper having general circulation in the county and also by posting a copy on the courthouse bulletin board. Special meetings called as provided above may be held at the site designated for regular meetings."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws, except public-local and private Acts, in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
