AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE ASHE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION TO CONVEY PROPERTY TO THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF ASHE COUNTY.

 

WHEREAS, the Idlewild Schoolhouse property has been abandoned for several years; and

WHEREAS, the County Board of Education of Ashe County deems this property unnecessary for school purposes and has no plans to use said property in the future; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Ashe County desires to acquire said property to be used as a voting place or for other public purposes: Now, therefore,

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Board of Education of Ashe County is hereby authorized to convey to the Board of Commissioners of Ashe County, upon such consideration as the County Board of Education deems advisable, the following described property:

"BEGINNING on a hickory to southwest corner of the Methodist Church house lot, running East 2 degrees North 7 1/2 poles to a stake, an agreed corner between S. A. Church and T. P. Fletcher; thence North with an agreed line, 8 1/2 poles to a stake; thence West 2 degrees North with an agreed line 5 1/4 poles to a stake in the Methodist Church house line; thence South 10 degrees East with said line 10 poles to the BEGINNING, containing one acre, more or less, and known as the Idlewild Schoolhouse property.

"Being the property conveyed by deed dated 23 July 1904, from S. A. Church and wife, S. E. Church, to Public School Committee of District No. 1, Pine Swamp Township, Ashe County, North Carolina, of record in Book J-1, at page 236, Ashe County Registry."

Sec. 2. The Board of County Commissioners of Ashe County is authorized to acquire the above-described property to be used as a voting place or for any other public purpose beneficial to the citizens of Ashe County.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
