AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE TOWN OF GOLDSTON IN CHATHAM COUNTY TO FIX THE COMPENSATION OF THE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNING BODY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The governing body of the Town of Goldston, in Chatham County, is hereby authorized to fix the salary of the mayor of the town in such amount as the governing body, by ordinance, shall determine. The mayor's salary shall not be increased or decreased during the term for which he is elected. The governing body, by ordinance, may establish a salary for its members and such salary may be reduced or increased, but no increase shall be effective during the term the increase is voted.

Sec. 2. All salaries and remunerations heretofore authorized and paid by the governing body of the Town of Goldston to the members of such body or the mayor, are hereby ratified and validated.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
