AN ACT AUTHORIZING LEE COUNTY TO ENACT AND ENFORCE A MINIMUM HOUSING STANDARDS ORDINANCE.
The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:
Section 1. The Lee County Board of Commissioners is hereby authorized to exercise any and all of the powers granted to municipal governing bodies by Article 15 of Chapter 160 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, entitled "Repair, Closing and Demolition of Unfit Dwellings." Such powers shall be exercised only in and with respect to the area included in the county's zoning jurisdiction, as defined by Section 153-266.13 of the General Statutes.
Sec. 2. Should any Section, clause, or provision of this Act be declared by the courts to be unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, such decision shall not affect the validity of the Act as a whole nor of any part thereof other than the part so declared to be unconstitutional or invalid.
Sec. 3. This Act shall apply only to Lee County.
Sec. 4. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Sec. 5. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
