AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE CITY AND COUNTY BOARDS OF EDUCATION TO OFFER AND PAY REWARDS FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF ANY PERSON OR PERSONS INJURING OR DAMAGING REAL OR PERSONAL PROPERTY OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  County and city boards of education are authorized and empowered to offer and pay rewards in an amount not exceeding fifty dollars ($50.00) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons who willfully deface, damage or destroy property, commit acts of vandalism or commit larceny of the property belonging to the public school system under the jurisdiction of and administered by any county or city board of education. The sums and amounts necessary to pay said rewards shall be an item in the current expense budget of said county or city board of education, and said reward shall be paid out of the current expense fund.

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
