AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 119 OF THE SESSION LAWS OF 1961 RELATING TO THE SALARIES OF THE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURLINGTON.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Chapter III, Subchapter A, Section 3.02 (a), of the Charter of the City of Burlington as set out in Chapter 119 of the Session Laws of 1961, is hereby amended by striking the period after the word "election" at the end thereof and substituting a comma therefor, and adding thereto the following:

"Provided, that the salary which the Mayor shall receive for his services shall not exceed three thousand dollars ($3,000.00) per year, and the salary which each other Councilman shall receive for his services shall not exceed two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) per year."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
