HOUSE BILL 574

 

 

AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE APPOINTMENT INSTEAD OF THE ELECTION OF A CHIEF OF POLICE IN THE TOWN OF MACON IN WARREN COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Section 3 of Chapter 246 of the Private Laws of 1905 is hereby amended by striking out the words "and a chief of police" in line 2, it being the intent and purpose of this amendment to abolish the election of a chief of police in the Town of Macon in Warren County.

Sec. 2. The Board of Commissioners of the Town of Macon in Warren County is hereby authorized, in its discretion, to appoint a chief of police and such other police officers as it may deem wise and expedient to serve at the will of the Board.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect on and after its ratification.
