AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY TO APPOINT A SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS FOR SAID COUNTY FOR A TERM OF FOUR YEARS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Board of Education of Montgomery County at a meeting to be held on the first Monday in April, 1965, or as soon thereafter as practicable, shall meet and elect a county superintendent of schools for said county, subject to the approval of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education, who shall take office July 1st, and shall serve for a period of two (2) or four (4) years, and until his successor is elected and qualified. The board of education shall in its discretion determine whether the superintendent's term of office shall be for a term of two (2) or four (4) years.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after ratification.
