AN ACT TO AMEND G. S. 153-4 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF FORSYTH COUNTY ON A STAGGERED TERM BASIS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. In the general election to be held in the year 1964, there shall be elected in Forsyth County five members of the Board of County Commissioners, three of the elected members shall serve for initial terms of four (4) years each, and two of the elected members shall serve for initial terms of two (2) years each. Such initial terms shall be determined by the drawing of lots in the presence of the Clerk of Superior Court of Forsyth County on the first Monday in December, 1964, immediately prior to the oaths of office of membership of the Board of Commissioners of Forsyth County being administered to the newly elected members of the Board of Commissioners. At the expiration of their respective terms of office their successors shall be elected for a term of four (4) years and until their successors are elected and qualified.

Sec. 2. G. S. 153-4 is hereby amended to effectuate the provisions of Section 1 of this Act.

Sec. 3. This Act shall apply only to the County of Forsyth.

Sec. 4. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 5. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
