AN ACT TO AMEND G. S. 9-25 SO AS TO FIX THE TERMS OF GRAND JURORS OF YADKIN COUNTY AND TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR APPOINTMENT.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. G. S. 9-25 is hereby amended by adding a new paragraph at the end thereof to read as follows:

"At the first term of court for the trial of criminal cases of Yadkin County, after the 1st day of July, 1961, there shall be chosen a grand jury as now provided by law and the first nine members of said grand jury chosen at said term shall serve for a term of one year, and the second nine members of the grand jury so chosen shall serve for a term of six months; and thereafter at the first regular, not special, term of criminal court after the first day of January and July of each year, there shall be chosen nine members of said grand jury to serve for a term of one year. The grand jurors shall receive compensation only for the time when actually serving."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after ratification.
