AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF AN ASSISTANT CORONER BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF HERTFORD COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Hertford County is authorized to appoint an assistant coroner for the County of Hertford, who shall have and possess all of the powers and authority of the duly elected county coroner at any time the coroner is unable to serve.

Sec. 2. Any assistant coroner appointed by the board of county commissioners pursuant to the provisions of this Act, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall take and subscribe to the oaths prescribed for public officers.

Sec. 3. Any assistant coroner appointed by virtue hereof shall receive for his service such compensation as may be prescribed by the board of county commissioners.

Sec. 4. Every assistant coroner appointed by virtue hereof shall execute an undertaking conditioned upon the faithful discharge of the duties of his office with good and sufficient surety in the penal sum of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00), payable to the State of North Carolina, and approved by the board of county commissioners.

Sec. 5. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 6. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
