AN ACT TO AMEND G. S. 143-284 RELATING TO APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE JOHN H. KERR RESERVOIR DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. G. S. 143-284 is hereby amended by striking out the words "from the eastern section of North Carolina" immediately following the word "appointed" in line 6 thereof.

Sec. 2. G. S. 143-284 is further amended by striking out the figure "10" from the third line, and inserting the figure "12" in lieu thereof, and by adding at the end of said Section a new paragraph to read as follows:

"Upon the expiration of the terms of the present incumbents, in lieu of the one member now serving from each of the counties of Granville, Vance and Warren, and the four members now serving at large, the Governor shall appoint two members of the Commission who shall be residents of Granville County, two members who shall be residents of Vance County, two members who shall be residents of Warren County, and three members at large. Two members shall be appointed by the Governor in accordance with the above provisions on July 1, 1961, for terms of six years each. It is provided, however, that nothing in this Act shall affect the terms of the present incumbents."

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
