AN ACT TO FIX THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF THE MAYOR AND COMMISSIONERS OF THE TOWN OF NASHVILLE IN NASH COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Charter of the Town of Nashville is hereby amended as follows:

"The terms of office of the mayor and members of the board of commissioners elected at the regular municipal election in May, 1961, shall begin on Tuesday after the first Monday in September, 1961, thereafter, terms of office shall begin on Tuesday after the first Monday in September following the regular biennial municipal elections, and the mayor and commissioners so elected shall serve for two-year terms or until their successors are duly elected and qualified.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
