SENATE BILL 388

 

 

AN ACT TO INCREASE THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF BRUNSWICK COUNTY FROM THREE TO FIVE MEMBERS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Chapter 299 of the Public-Local Laws of 1933 is hereby repealed.

Sec. 2. The Board of County Commissioners of Brunswick County shall consist of five members to be elected at large instead of the three members as presently constituted.

Sec. 3. At the general election to be held in the year 1960 and biennially thereafter there shall be elected in Brunswick County by the qualified voters thereof a board of county commissioners consisting of five members who shall serve for a term of two years from the first Monday in December after their election or until their successors are elected and qualified; provided, only one member of the Board of County Commissioners of Brunswick County shall be from any one township of said county.

Sec. 4. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 5. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
