AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MITCHELL COUNTY TO LEVY A SPECIAL TAX FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUPPLEMENTING RETIREMENT BENEFITS OF RETIRED COUNTY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Mitchell County is hereby authorized, in its discretion, to levy annually on all taxable property in the county a tax at the rate of not exceeding one cent (1¢) per one hundred dollars ($100.00) property valuation for the express purpose of providing supplemental payments or benefits for county officials and employees who were members of the Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System and who have retired from service. The General Assembly does hereby give special approval for the levy of such tax.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect on and after July 1, 1959.
